Adventure Dynamics organises this 6 day adventure in the Congo with a mix of Gorilla trekking and a climb of Mt Nyiragongo, – Africa’s most active Volcano. You will trek for 2 days to reach the crater rim and sleep in huts. – Watch as the red lava lights up at night! This is an amazing photographic tour with a mix of Silverback Gorillas and Volcano trekking.

Includes: Airport transfers and all transport, all national park fees, communal gear on the trek, tents, stoves, pots, food and fuel. Hotels as per itinerary, 3 nights hotel (3 star), an Adventure Dynamics Guide.

Excludes: All airfares, visas, insurance, personal equipment, tips, soft drinks, bottled water or alcoholic beverages, items of personal nature, health requirements, hospitalisation and evacuation if required, personal gear, any additional expenses, fees for changes to flights and excess baggage payments, delay expenses outside itinerary, restaurant meals and spending money, additional days in hotels.

Your Adventure Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Volcanos National Park.

Flight to Uganda and arrival in Kigali International Airport. You will be met by the Adventure Dynamics Guide. Transfer to lunch at the Kigali Restaurant and then on towards Ruhengeri to the Volcanos National Park. Overnight at the Gorillas Volcano Hotel.

Day2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking at Volcanos National Park.

This is an amazing Adventure Dynamics programme. After breakfast we visit the ranger office where you will receive a briefing how to behave around Gorillas. We then commence with our walk to the Gorilla site.

Once our group is sorted we will start the trek to the different territories and areas where the gorilla families live. This can take between 1 and 6 hours depending where the gorillas are located. We can go up to 2300m in altitude. This has great photographic potential when we see the gorillas. We will return for lunch in the local town and go to our hotel where we will brief you about tomorrows climb of Mt Nyiragongo.

Day 3: Climbing Mount Nyiragongo.

We wake up early, have breakfast and transfer to the Rwanda/Congo border post and drive 50km to the base of Mt Nyiragongo. We will check our gear head up the volcano with all equipment, porters and guides. The last eruption was in 2002, we will pass through forest and lava flows, surrounded by amazing lakes. We will spend the afternoon exploring the crater zone and our guides know all the best spots of interest and photographic potential. We then go to our overnight cabins on the crater and watch the volcano light up as the sun sets. Our chef will do an amazing dinner and breakfast. Overnight is in two bed cabins. (6 hours of trekking)

Day 4: Descent from Mt Nyiragongo, short visit to Gomo and then back over the border to Gisenyi (Rwanda).

It takes 3 hours to get down after breakfast as we make our way back to the hotel in Gisenyi in Rwanda.

Day 5 : Transfer back to Kigali – overnight in Kigali 3 star hotel.

Day 6: Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
